The DUKAN Diet Is A Favorite Of Mine!

This diet plan originated from France and is a favorite of mine. Mr Pierre Dukan designed this protein-based diet over many years and has promoted this for more than 30 years.  However, it gained attention after it was published in the year 2000.

“The Dukan Diet” book sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and was widely used among celebs.  As such, it has been translated into 14 languages and has been published in thirty-two countries around the world. Apart from this, Pierre Dukan offered online coaching service likewise with online shops.

The Process

This protein based nutritional approach suggests a healthy plan for eating based on primitive ways.  It consists of 72 animal sourced foods and 28 plant sourced food for a total of 100 foods.  In this diet there is no restriction as to how much amount you like to eat but it has to be primarily from the list of 100 foods.

The Phases of Dukan Diet

The goal of the Attack Phase is about losing weight rapidly of about 2 to 3 kg. between 2 and 10 days. Calorie is not counted in this phase but dieters can eat low fat lean protein only at any amount.  Meat with added sugar is not allowed but all kinds of fish, chicken, eggs, beef, cottage cheese and soy are suggested.  Water consumption per day should be at least 1.5 liters and 1.5 tablespoons of oat bran to suppress hunger.

The Cruise Phase includes 28 vegetables but no fruits.  This will help the dieters to attain a gradual body weight based on target. Generally, the length of this phase lasts 1 kg loss of weight per week. Therefore, the phase should last for 15 weeks if somebody intends to lose 15 kg.

Starchy vegetables are allowed for any amount of consumption like spinach, green beans, lettuce and the like. Low fat protein can be eaten like in the initial phase including 1.5 liters of water and oat bran.  The eating process has to be in alternate each day.  Like one day lean protein the next day combine it with the required veggies.
To hinder the dieter from gaining the weight back it is suggested to consume unlimited amounts of vegetables and protein daily with a portion of cheese, 2 slices of bread (whole grain), and fruit with low sugar.  This is the Consolidation Phase.   In this phase the dieter is required to eat starchy food with 1 or 2 servings or 2 celebration meals are allowed each week.  It is when the dieters can eat whatever they like.

The Stabilization Phase is where the dieters can eat whatever they want but some rules should guide them.  They are not allowed to ride the elevators or take escalators.  A 20-minute walk each day is required. Three tablespoons of oat bran intake is needed daily.  They should eat based on the attack phase one day per week.

The dieters are required to include the Dukan stabilization phase in their lifestyle in their entire lives in achieving long term benefits.  They can also eat spices, vinegar and foods with artificial sweeteners but needs to take multivitamins with minerals.

Jennifer Lopez, Kate Middleton and Gisele Bundchen are said to have successfully used the Dukan Diet.
